The word Chakra means “wheel” in Sanskrit; it symbolises the flow of
energy in our body. The Chakras are energy centres present in our body.
The Chakras are always moving in our body, thus accumulating energy.
Energy is embedded from the base of the human spinal cord to the top of
the head. In the spinal cord there are Nadis called Ida, Pingala and
Sushumna and in the same spinal cord there are seven energy centres
called chakras. They ensure a harmonious flow of energy throughout the
body and they regulate our emotions and sensation. Chakras work to
maintain balance between our body, soul and mind. The chart on the right hand side gives
the position of each Chakras in our body.
