12th January 2026 Celebration of Swamy Vivekananda Jayanthi

On 12 Jan 2026 SPV Seva Trust in association with Sri Prasanna Veeranjaneya Yoga Kendra celebrate Vivekananda Jayanthi.  Yoga students and friends participated with ardent devotion and respect to Swamy Vivekananda  who introduced the philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world, a patriot and who worked for the revival of Hinduism in India.  Highlights of the Celebrations were:         

  1. Smt Lata Hegde rendered Mandale Navayuga Mudayatu” (ಭುವನ ಮಂಡಲೇ ನವಯುಗ ಮುದಯತು ಸದಾ ವಿವೇಕಾನಂದಮಯಮ್) a Sanskrit song composed by the renowned Sanskrit scholar Dr. ShriDhar Bhaskar Varnekar;     
  2. Sri Vijaya Sarathi provided invocation song in praise of Lord Ganesha;
  3. All students and teachers paid respect individually by offering flowers to the portrait of Swamy Vivekananda;
  4. Sri Prasanna, spoking on the life and contributions of Swamy Vivekananda gave the audience  a bird-view of (a) Swamiji’s Childhood (b) his contributions to Hindu philosophy (c) his Famous 11 Sep 1893 – Chicago address at  World’s Parliament of Religions (d) his December 1892 adventure to swim to a large rock off Kanyakumari (now Vivekananda Rock), where he meditated for three days, envisioning India’s future and resolving to serve humanity.    
  5. Sri Rajan recalled his contribution in bringing the great knowledge of study, Indian Institute of Science to Bengaluru by requesting Maharaja of Mysore to provide the required land.    
  6. Recalling qualities of Swamy Vivekananda, Nagesh mentioned that Swamiji advocated  the principle of “Janani Janmabhumishcha Swargadapi Gariyasi” (mother and motherland are superior to heaven) and Citizens should be aware of their social responsibilities more than their rights;  He added that Swamiji had photographic memory and he was known as “Shrutidhara” (a person with an immense memory), he established Ramakrishna Mission and Ramakrishna Mutt.  Swamiji also designed emblem of Ramakrishna Mutt which depicts the synthesis of four yogas (Karma, Bhakti, Jnana, Raja) Swamiji also designed .  emblem of Ramakrishna Mutt which depicts the synthesis of four yogas (Karma, Bhakti, Jnana, Raja)
  7. After distribution of dry fruits brought by Sri Umashankar and National Anthem the program concluded.
