78th Independence Day was celebrated in three distinct way comprising of patriotic and community-serving activities
(1) Between 6 and 8.30 morning, the Day was observed with patriotic fervor, with Sri Shashidhar Kote the Popular Singer, Musician, Actor and Teacher gracing as Chief Guest. Yoga practitioners, young and seniors sung apts songs and spoke on the contributions of modern India and recalled the contributions made by freedom fighters. Students sung patriotic songs on the occasion. After hoisting the Tricolour, Sri Shashidhar Kote rendered his golden voice to sing patriotic songs. He reminded the rolls of youngsters in building a stronger nation. Students performed individual pooja for Bharatamatha portrait. With distribution of sweet, 1st Event of the day was concluded.
(2) As a second and humble service to motherland students moved to Kadubagere on Magadi Road to plant 160 medicinal plants (with total 20 varieties) in the reserved land of Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited, a joint-venture of GOI and Karnataka Government (KAPL). Friends had tasty breakfast before they planted the saplings. The Gardeners and Sri Karthik, site incharge of KAPL made the ground ready with pits and helped the students to plant the sprout and young-trees between 9.30 am and 12 noon.
(3) Moving on to visit the neighbouring “Belaku Academy” our students witnessed the Independence Day Celebrations at the Orphanage. This unique orphanage provides comprehensive education to 120 children visually impaired and mentally challenged, apart from giving shelter to 30 poor students. We distributed sweets to students of Belaku Academy and spoke to Smt. Ashwini Angadi founder of impressive Belaku Academy and known global ambassador and advocate of disability rights.
