Report on  Performance of 1,009 rounds of Suryanamaskaras by 60 enthusiastic Yoga Practitioners for continuous 15 hours on Rathasaptami, 25th January 2026

On Sunday, January 25, 2026   60 Yoga Practitioners performed 1,009 rounds of Suryanamaskara for continuous 15 hours.  The students of ten different yoga schools of Karnataka State came together to offer 1,009 rounds of Suryanamaska. This annual program offered nineth year in succession is dedicated to Lord Surya Bhagavan was held at Sri Prasanna Veeranjaneya Temple, Mahalakshmipuram, Bangalore, from 4.30 am to 7.30 pm on Sunday, January 25, 2026 . In addition to the 60 yoga practitioners performed 1,009 rounds of Suryanamaskara, several yoga practitioners offered 108 rounds of   Suryanamaskara  on Sunday.

As in the past, during this Rathasaptami, we arranged performance of Navagraha, Mrutyunjaya and Adityahridaya, Ramataaraka and Anjaneya homas. This apart, there were Vedha Ghosha/Chanting as well as two rounds of “Agnihotra Homam” (As a process of purifying the atmosphere) one at beginning of the event at 4.00 am and at conclusion, 7.30 pm. 

At the initiative of Dr Nagendra Guruji, President, SVYASA University, the Yoga University has agreed to conduct a case study / observation involving all the participants of 1009 Suryanamaskara Sankalpa on 25th Jan 2026.  The study covers among others the following areas of  study and research –

  • effect on Aura and Chakra energy points,
  • cardiovascular endurance, stamina
  • metabolic rate.

The outcome of this research is likely to help the medical research fraternity throughout the world.
