We were happy and fortunate to meet and interact with the girls at the Mahalakshmi Lay Out Orphanage on 16th Dec 2025. Kalpa Raksha Educational and Charitable Trust provided one more opportunity to visit other Orphanage for boys situated at Nagarabhavi, Bengaluru run and maintained by them.
On 17th December we visited the Boys’ Orphanage, which is spacious than the Girls’ free hostel and orphanage at Mahalakshmi Lay Out. Sri Ramesh, Founder and who also takes care of day-today affairs of this Orphanage took us around the premises and explained the food/kitchen, accommodation, schooling and other facilities and comfort provided to the boys. We were impressed and awestruck, two Naik Brothers (Sri Ramesh Naik and Sri Kumar Naik) with little educational and humble background, seeking a livelihood migrated from nondescript village Kushkur in Shivamogga district to Bengaluru and by sheer hard work, ventured into business in many divergent streams such as tailoring, boutique business, brick factory, helmet manufacturing to construction industry. Caring for community and society at their peak of their career, about 12 year-back, they formed the above Trust and established orphanage to serve the needy children. Until now they have supported, rehabilitated, and brought more than 2000 children into mainstream of society by providing food, shelter and education. This Charitable Trust have goals to move to an owned land and spacious building and to give improved living conditions of inmates of their Orphanage. Though a few organizations have recognized the noble efforts of the Trust, we expect and trust Government and other national level organizations would identify the yeomen services and provide support for efforts of this unique organization.
We were indeed happy to interact with boys in the Orphanage brought from different parts of Karnataka and from different religions. The students in the Hostel had a tight schedule commencing from early morning till evening. They are given tuition support, were taught chanting slokas, bhajans, yoga and exposed to value based education. We find the students in the Hostel were cheerful and receptive.
We distributed sweets to the students in the Orphanage, witnessed the RO Water Filter Plant installed in the Orphanage today by our Sri Prasanna Veeranjaneya Seva Trust. Students actively participated in the yoga session we provided for about 45 minutes. They learnt a few intricate individual and group yoga postures we taught.
