Sankalpa – 1009 rounds of Suryanamaskaras by 50 Yoga Practitioners 4th Feb 2025

On Tuesday, February 4, 2025 50 Yoga Practitioners performed 1,009 rounds of Suryanamaskara for continuous 15 hours.

Highlights of this unique event held at Sri Prasanna Veeranjaneya Yoga Kendra (a prestigious wing of SPV Seva Trust), Mahalakshmipuram, Bengaluru were:

1. The students of ten different yoga schools of Karnataka State came together to offer 1,009 rounds of Suryanamaskara. This program dedicated to Lord Surya Bhagavan was held at Sri Prasanna Veeranjaneya Temple, Mahalakshmipuram, Bangalore, from 4.30 am to 7.30 pm on Tuesday, 4th February 2025.

2. In addition to the 50 yoga practitioners performed 1,009 rounds of Suryanamaskara, a few hundreds offered 108 rounds of Suryanamaskara on Tuesday.

3. As a Special Event during this Rathasaptami, we arranged performance of Navagraha, Mrutyunjaya and Aditya, Ramataaraka and Anjaneya homas. This apart, there were Vedha Ghosha/Chanting as well as two rounds of “Agnihotra Homam” (As a process of purifying the atmosphere) one at beginning of the event at 4.00 am and at conclusion, 7.30 pm.

4. The age group of Yoga Practitioners completing 1,009 Suryanamaskaras was between 10 and 75 years, comprising of women, men and children.

5. The students who performed 1,009 Suryanamaskaras for 15 hours took dryfruits and fruit juice and they did not take breakfast or lunch.

6. In the course of practising 1,009 Suryanamaskaras, students completed total of 12,108 Aasanas (different Yoga Postures).
