MKL Balaga successfully conducted its 90th and 91st Blood Donation Camps on 11th and 12th September 2026 at Pride Hulkul, Lalbagh Road, Bengaluru, with the support of Voltas Limited, a Tata Enterprise.
The camps were conducted in association with Sri Prasanna Veeranjaneya Seva Trust, Mahalakshmi Layout, whose three volunteers actively assisted in the smooth conduct of the programme.
Employees of Voltas Limited, Universal MEP Projects & Engineering Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Voltas, and neighbouring organisations including Prerana Motors and Mitsubishi Power India Limited, enthusiastically participated in this noble cause.
A total of 47 units of blood were collected during the two-day initiative, including donations from around 10 first-time blood donors. Employees from different departments and levels, including women employees, came forward enthusiastically to donate this precious gift of life.
At the instance of Voltas Limited, MKL Balaga associated for the first time with Rashtrotthana Blood Centre, Kempegowda Nagar, Bengaluru. The Blood Centre team conducted both camps efficiently, responsibly and with great care and commitment.
One of the most touching moments occurred when a young couple, married only about six months earlier, happened to pass by the mobile blood collection van. They were on their way to a hospital for a follow-up consultation and medical advice relating to the wife’s ongoing treatment for leukaemia.
Moved by the sight of the Blood Donation Camp and the importance of the cause, the husband came forward and donated blood in the mobile van, even as his wife was undergoing treatment.
This spontaneous act of compassion was deeply moving for everyone present and served as a powerful reminder that blood donation can become a lifeline for patients and families facing critical health challenges.
With these two camps, MKL Balaga continues its long-standing journey of promoting voluntary blood donation and has now facilitated the collection of nearly 8,000 units of blood over the years.
A small act of kindness can become someone’s lifeline.
